Internet is the new 'NEWSPAPER'
Let’s rewind to the time where getting to know
current events meant searching for a newspaper or listening to the radio. How
rarely was it that we could know what’s happening in the same city, let alone
the rest of the world. Although now news on television or newspapers has
improved awareness highly, it may well be said that most of the current
percentage of the youth and working class now rely on the Internet for current
updates of news. Internet helps provide us with a platform to easily send a
message out to the world!
Well let’s not just talk about the current news
industry moving to the Internet, having the current affairs posted on online
websites, instant news mobile applications or as highlights on other
promotional sites. Let’s talk of how internet truly provides us our most basic
right, ‘the right of speech’. You don’t often see a victim raising his/her
voice on television or newspapers. Most often only those lucky minorities who
has a reach to the world can reach the headlines of the news. Then how does
everyone else get a platform to raise their inner voices and be heard! Social
networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter or blogs and a varied number of self
expression sites have helped many people to be heard by not just a small crowd
but by the world. In recent times how often have you come across people
expressing their emotions, abuse, oppression or maybe just advice. How
enlightening it would be for them to let out those words that choked them from
within. How inspiring it would have been for those reading those messages or
watching those videos. How Internet gives those are few rare people who have
the spark in them to change the world but no platform to start. Just how
liberating it must feel to be able to spread the word and in a way someone out
there may find just what they needed to hear.
By far this is one of the most important and
beautiful thing that the Internet has helped us achieve. There certainly always
will be a bad side to everything, but then sometimes its worth it isn’t it?
There can never be anything more important than inner peace. There can be a
nature lover or animal lover who just want to tell people to be more empathetic
and humble. There maybe someone who knows how bad injustice is and just wants
the world to know that what being kind is truly is. Internet has made this
possible.

So does this mean that if it's preference grows at a high extend...will there be an 'extinct' of newspapers in future?
ReplyDeleteIt may, but it should not...because the charm you get in reading a newspaper is not found in reading the screen...like reading a book is always different from reading e page.
