Internet bringing rise to Virtual Reality

Majority of the youth are hitched with games, with the recent games mostly played being online multi-player role playing games such as World of Warcraft, Counter Strike, Dungeons & Dragons and a numerous more number of games! Now we no longer crave from 2D films but rather 3D movies making the watching experience closer to reality. As our generations increases we keep craving experiences that are closer to reality. Slowly we are craving a path towards this, a virtual reality world. Virtual reality is the creation of a virtual environment presented to our senses in such a way that we experience it as if we were really there.

Virtual reality(VR) is more or less like a simulation of a 3D environment and controlled by the movement of our body. VR is basically one of the promising technologies being developed in current times with already a quite number of users. In Oct’2016, researchers at KZero estimate that by 2018 there will be more than 170 million active VR users worldwide, and TrendForce expects the overall virtual reality market to grow to $70 billion by 2020, up from just $6.7 billion right now. With the VR headsets being developed by many major companies such as Google, Samsung, HTC, Sony we now can view games in a more realistic way. Though VR is majorly being used for gaming, it’s basically a medium that can be used for a variety of purposes. In the future we hope to use VR in the Entertainment industry to view videos that surround us, in Artistry and design where we could build things with real tools or paint a 3D image with other people, in real estate or shopping to have a tour of the place which maybe far away, psychology or medication, for education and simulations, tourism and many other ways. One of the best things about VR is that it allows people from any part of the world to log in via servers and meet, interact, perform tasks in a 3D environment that we perceive as real. Maybe in the near future there would be a way to help those medically challenged to live a normal and free life in the virtual reality world. In time it could be possible for those in VR in a particular region to interact with those in the real world in another region via technical interfaces. Maybe in the future classrooms, students won’t need to imagine the things taught in classroom but can experience it as it is being taught. Maybe logging into VR would allow those far away to be closer and share time together.

The world of ‘virtual reality’ is vast and the number of possibilities available increases for us. Slowly the technology is becoming cheaper and more widespread. We can expect to see many more innovative uses for the technology in the future and perhaps a fundamental way in which we communicate and work thanks to the possibilities of virtual reality.
